Alberta (Bert) Yates, 81, from Woodstown, NJ, passed away at Salem Medical Center on Monday, May 13, 2024. Alberta was born on December 27, 1942, in Upper Pittsgrove, New Jersey to her deceased parents, John and Martha Yates Sr. She grew up on Whig Lane Road in Upper Pittsgrove Township and later moved to Woodstown, New Jersey.

Alberta attended Daretown Public School for grades K-8, Then she went to Woodstown High School for grades 9-12. Some of her favorite classes were Typing, Shorthand, and Home Economics. Alberta graduated from Woodstown High School in 1961.  As a teenager, she developed her musical skills with Mrs. Hoover, her piano teacher.

Alberta received her religious training and was baptized by Rev. P.W. Taylor at Morning Star Baptist Church. She was very active in several ministries. Alberta was the pianist and organist for the Senior Choir and the Male Chorus, an usher, a kitchen committee member, and a Matron. Alberta was faithful and committed to her church duties!

Alberta had a variety of jobs throughout her life. She worked at Columbia Records in Pitman, NJ, and at Sodat in Salem, NJ, where she eventually became an Administrative Assistant. She continued in this position until she retired in 2020 at 79!

Predeceased by her Brothers: Lester Taylor, John Yates Jr., and Joseph Yates Sr. Sisters: Dorothy Yates and Sara (Yates) Ford, nephews: Jeffrey Yates Sr. and Gregory A. Yates Sr.,

She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter: Tammy Yates,
Son: Michael A. Yates, Sister: Olive (Ollie) Reid, Sister-in-law: Hattie Yates,
Grandchildren: Alexis McKinnon, Autumn Yates, and Michael Yates Jr. and
Nastashia Harris, Great-grandchildren: Noah McKinnon, Sianna Rodriguez,
Londyn Rodriguez.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends
will cherish her memory!
