Alvin Oscar
Bass Sr.
September 17, 1947 – September 28, 2020
On Monday, September 28, 2020 Alvin Oscar Bass loving husband, Father of Five and Grandfather of ten passed away at age 73.
Alvin was born September 17, 1947 in Camden NJ to Oscar Bass and Ellen Irby-Bass-Williams as a child, he excelled in everything that he did thru out grade school. He played little league baseball and hit 3 home runs that game in the world series. Al was also amazing at track and field. Each sport he played he set new records. After finishing high school Alvin went into the Army Reserve National Guard where he was honorably discharged. On November 19th 1966 he married the love of his life Diane Harrison. They raised three sons Alvin O. Bass Jr, Darius Bass and Timothy Bass and two daughters Kelley Bass-Grant and Kenyetta Bass.
Alvin was born into the Baptist church and married in the church also. He went on to later become the pastor of the Church of Christ in Clayton where he was a pastor there for 40 plus years. He was also the father figure to many children on his bus route and in the neighborhood while driving a school bus for the Elk Township school district. He also enjoyed in his free time to bowl and take things apart and put them back together.
Alvin joins his parents Oscar and Ellen as well as his grandparents Gertrude and Albert and Sister Betty in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife Diane, his brother Wayne, His children Al jr, Kelley, Darius, Timothy and Kenyetta, 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many more family and friends.
