Amadi Q. Myrick's Obituary

Amadi Q. Myrick was born on December 27, 1997, in Bridgeton, NJ, to Shannon Myrick and Melinda Taylor. He departed this life suddenly on January 15, 2025, at the age of 27.

Amadi attended Kingsway High School in Swedesboro, NJ, where he was a proud member of the football team. He went on to become a Correctional Officer for the Delaware Department of Corrections, completing his training at the Steven R. Floyd, Sr. Training Academy. Amadi was assigned to the 4x12 shift at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

Amadi was known for his confidence and unwavering encouragement, always inspiring others to pursue their dreams and follow the path set before them. He had a gift for uplifting those around him, often using his quick wit to bring laughter to any situation. Amadi deeply cherished his family and shared a close bond with his mother, Melinda. A gentle giant with a bright presence, he was a source of strength and positivity for his loved ones, who will forever remember his infectious laugh and warm spirit.

As a young child, Amadi enjoyed grabbing a piece of your skin and gently rolling it between his little fingers, a reflection of his gentle nature. He was always kind-hearted, pleasant, and deeply valued spending time with his family, especially his brother Naji and sister Trinity.

Amadi was a genuine, generous, and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He was thoughtful and dependable, the best friend anyone could hope for. He made sure those around him felt safe and always offered his strength in times of need. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Amadi leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Melinda Taylor (Frank) and Shannon Myrick (Shea); his brother, Naji Myrick (Aleena); his sister, Trinity Myrick; his aunt, Monica Maldonado; his uncle, Don Taylor Jr.; his nephew, Dakari Myrick; and his niece, Azira Myrick. He also leaves behind his cousins, Naya Taylor, Don Taylor III, and Summer Taylor.

On his paternal side, he leaves his brother, Shannon   Watford; and his sisters, Shanteria Myrick and Nya Smith Phlo. Amadi is survived by his grandfather, Arthur Gould; his aunts, Jacqueline Williams and Tanisha Thomas; and his cousins, Jessica, Will, Tony, Malcolm, Chardonnay, Teria, Jacqueline, and Destiny. Additionally, he leaves his nieces, Naomi Philo, Ky'Mani Hoyle, Ja'Yanah Watford, and Cali Faye Lawrence, as well as many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends.

Amadi was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Don Taylor Sr. and Maryann Taylor, and his paternal grandmother, Brenda Sue Roberts.
