On Thursday, September 14th, 2023, we bid farewell to a beloved soul who brought warmth and joy to our lives. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Annie Mae (Clark) Pace, who peacefully left this world and embarked on her eternal journey.
Annie was born on October 22nd, 1932, in Jacksonville, Georgia, to her late parents, Tommie Clark and Estella McCrimmon. She spent her formative years in Jacksonville, attending elementary and high school, migrating to Bridgeton, NJ with then husband James E Johnson Sr and two children, Virginia and James Jr in the late 1950's. In March of 2001 she married Jasper Pace(deceased 8/12/09) of Buffalo, NY.
Annie was an industrious woman who worked tirelessly throughout her life. She held various jobs, including positions at Green Giant and Ritters. For over 30 years, she dedicated herself to serving others as a home health aide at Cumberland County Home Health Aides in Millville, NJ. Her exceptional service and compassionate care earned her numerous accolades, a testament to her unwavering dedication.
Annie's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a cherished member and seasoned Saint of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Bridgeton, NJ. She also served as an usher for many years, displaying her unwavering devotion to her spiritual community.
Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Annie found joy in various leisure activities. She had a passion for shopping, particularly for clothing and accessories. Exploring both domestic and international destinations filled her heart with excitement. Annie cherished quality time spent with her family and friends, relishing in good meals, watching her favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, attending funerals, collecting obituaries even of those she may not know and her number one joy of chatting on the telephone.
Annie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Johnson of Millville, NJ, her son James E. Johnson Jr of Wilmington, DE, and her special daughter, Sandra Bailey of Cedarville, NJ. Five grandchildren: Mark Johnson, Jasmine Johnson Catlett, Shahidah Johnson, Teesha Johnson, and Kwamea Johnson. Additionally, she leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, Tierra, Tamar, Seyahni, Rahmier, Sahnai, Amil, Cody, Ori'ayanna, Skye, and London, as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Shaun and Amira.
Annie's memory will forever be cherished by her four sisters, Sallie Broughton, Catherine Spann, Quinnell Haugebrook, and Bornell Littleton, all of Bridgeton, NJ. She is also survived by her stepson, James Pace, and her five stepdaughters, Debra, Helen, Jeanette, Delores, and Doris, all from Buffalo, NY.
In addition to her parents, Annie was predeceased by her brothers, Tommie Clark and Harry Clark, as well as her sister, Mattie Evans. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom mourn the loss of this remarkable woman.
Annie Mae (Clark) Pace will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of love, compassion, and strength. Her vibrant spirit and cherished memories will continue to inspire us. May her soul find eternal rest, and may we find solace in the legacy she leaves behind.
