West
July 23, 1950 – December 7, 2025
The family of Arabella West (Pierce), affectionately known as Bell or Bella, mourns her peaceful
passing on the morning of December 7, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving children.
Arabella's life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and
community. Born to Louvica P. Mann and George Shorter Sr., she was preceded in death by her
beloved parents.
Arabella devoted her life to caring for others. She began her career as a nurse's aide at Newcomb
Hospital and Bishop McCarthy, where her gentle presence brought comfort and hope to countless
patients and families. She later dedicated 20 years of faithful service to Tri-County Community
Action, serving in various roles and ultimately becoming Food Director at the Marino Center, where
her leadership and generosity made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
Continuing her mission of service, Arabella went on to work as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at
Seabrook House, offering guidance, encouragement, and compassion to those seeking recovery. She
later retired from the Cumberland County Guidance Center as a Senior Counselor, leaving behind a
legacy of empathy, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping others heal and thrive.
Arabella was a devoted mother, a loving sister, a loyal friend, and a steady source of comfort and
inspiration. She is lovingly survived by her children, Constantine West Sr. (Mariluz) and Tameaka
Durham (Maurice); her siblings, Iris Walker, George Shorter (Annie), Angela Myrick (Sylvester),
Eric Shorter, Vickie Jones, Andrea Cater, and William Valentine; her grandchildren, Tallis West,
Nathaniel West (Kimberly), Constantine West Jr. (Ariel), Lady West, Jalen West, Sean Dunns,
Zayden West, Grayson West, Rashon Durham, and Ajah Durham; and her great-grandchildren,
Camryn West, Victory West, and Aleena Durham, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Arabella's radiant smile, compassionate spirit, and unwavering love created a home and a life filled
with laughter, resilience, and grace. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of
service, love, and inspiration will continue to shine through all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 20, 2025, at the Alms Center in Bridgeton, NJ.
May she rest in eternal peace, and may her light continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
