Arnold Leon Divers was born to the union of the late Edward and Rosalee (Talmadge) Divers, on March 8, 1940, in Elk Township NJ. His offensive and defensive playing enabled him to be afforded a position on the college roosters as he transferred to Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, WA from 1960 to 1962.  Due to his injuries while playing college football Arnold decided to come home.  In 1963, he enlisted in the Airforce, completing his basic training in Amarillo, Texas.  He received an honorable discharge as an Airman Basic in March 1967.  His last assignment was working in the 1001 Supply Squadron at the Andrews AFB Maryland.

He was also a landlord for the apartments he had build on Earl Avenue in Glassboro.

He joined the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in 1986 while taking a graduate course and enjoyed attending their events and the brotherhood it represented.

He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. Wrennie Morgan. Later, he moved his membership to St. Matthews Baptist Church in Williamstown, NJ under the pastorate of Reverend Raymond Gordon, until his health started to fail.
