Benjamin H.
Lollie, Jr.
January 2, 1958 – July 22, 2025
Benjamin H. Lollie Jr transitioned from this life to the next on July 22, 2025. Born on January 2, 1958, Benjamin was the fourth of four children born to the late Benjamin H. Lollie Sr. and Thelma M. Lollie.
Ben's elementary and most of his secondary education was through the Bridgeton Public School System. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1976; during his last year of high school he lived with his sister, Valda. His later studies took place at Bethany Christian College, Minneapolis, MN. Following that he was involved in Mission Work in both Haiti and New York City, for a short time. During his life Ben worked a few other positions, but his work life was short lived due to illness.
He was a prolific reader; reading primarily from the texts of the Holy Bible in a variety of translations and cultural contexts and related history. He loved Jazz and was very knowledgeable regarding famous jazz artists and the various styles of jazz. He had an extensive collection of books and music CDs.
On a very hot summer day, August 5th,2000 Ben was united in marriage with Valerie L. Scott. They shared a special love and remained together for nearly twenty-five years. They honored their wedding vows… "in sickness and in health, till death do us part."
Benjamin was a life-long practicing, believing Christian. He remained true to his faith and values all his life. Even when he struggled with both mental and physical health issues, he never gave up. He never blamed God. He kept trying to move forward and remain positive. Because of this we called him "our hero." Ben, you have fought the good fight; you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Now wear your crown! Rest with the saints and ancestors, until we are together again.
Benjamin leaves to mourn his passing: his loving and devoted wife Valerie; his brother-in-love Elmer (Karen), his sisters Patricia (Gerald), Valda (Paul) and Brenna. His life-long friend Barry as well as a host of cousins, nieces & nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.
