Bernice
Palmer
August 7, 1929 – January 7, 2019
Mrs. Bernice Palmer, formerly Grant-Pearson, died on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Spring Oaks Assisted Living facility in New Jersey. She was 89 years old.
Bernice was born on August 7, 1929 in the Yankee District of St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. She emigrated to Canada in 1978 to reside with her brothers Sylvester and Hubert after her husband Joslyn Pearson passed away.
She left Canada in 1979 to Vineland, NJ where she married the Rev. Clinton Palmer who also predeceased her 18 years ago.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Sarah Morris and son Peter Pearson, six grandchildren: Claudia, Jason, Brian, Damion, Dexter, David and seven great-grandchildren – Khalil, Jacob, Levi, Nahla, Demaris, Breyanna and Olivia. She is also survived by her brothers Oscar Taylor (Jamaica), Bishop Sylvester Taylor and Hubert Taylor (Canada), Rev. Cleveland Taylor and Daniel Taylor (USA). Sister Etta Simon (USA), and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
Serving the Lord was an integral part of her life and she was a member of Crusaders for Christ and subsequently Miracle Temple COGIC where her Pastor Rev. Myrick ministered to her physical and spiritual needs.
Bernice loved to laugh. She was a homemaker, a woman of faith, humility and stability. She was a disciplined and organized woman who kept her abode impeccable. Everything had its place. There was always some delicious steamed snapper and rice and peas in her refrigerator, ready to be savored, even when you visited her unannounced. She enjoyed spending time with family members, her children and grandchildren. She also traveled back and forth from the US to Canada and Jamaica.
Bernice left an indelible mark in the hearts of whomever she met.
She lived her life, one day at a time, singing spiritual songs, reading her bible and fearing nothing. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
In life we all have hills and mountains to ascent. The same stood true for Bernice. However, that did not impede her progress as a person. She lived her life. She lived a life that many could say that they were proud to know her.
Therefore; we can proudly say:
"You've done your time, and it's time to rest. Sleep on friend. Sleep on aunty. Sleep on sister. Sleep on grandma. We love you mommy. It's time to rest. Sleep on."
