Betty Ann Benson was born on September 25, 1934, in Queens, New York, to the late James W. Penn and Naomi Callaway. On October 4, 2022, Betty went home to be with the Lord after an extended illness.

Mrs. Bensons resided in Englewood, New Jersey, until her moving to Newtonville, New Jersey. She later moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Her pastime was spent entertaining her family and friends.

Betty received her primary education at the Hackensack Public School System. Her place of employment was at Top Cleaners in Hackensack, New Jersey. She married Robert Earl Benson, Jr. (deceased) on August 9, 1959. With this union, she had two children, Brenda Anita Benson and Robert Earl Benson III (deceased). Later, Betty adopted two of her nephews, Stacey Penn and Ronald Penn, from the late Carol Penn.

She leaves to cherish her memory of five sisters, Coty, Barbara, Pauline, Shirley, and Hazel, all predeceased. She has two brothers, Walter Penn and William Cochran of South Hill, VA., sisters-in-law Malvese Penn to the late James Penn of South Hill, Va., Dorothy Edgar and Patricia Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
