Betty L. Thomas (Kemp) age 73 of Vineland, NJ, affectionately known as "Old Girl", "Lady Bug", "Juice", "Granny" and most of all "Mommy". Betty departed this life on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
Betty was born in Greenwich, NJ to the late William and Bertha Kemp on August 18, 1947. She resided in Vineland, NJ most of her life. She attended Vineland High School. She was employed at Claridge Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ as a security guard. She also worked at Holly Packaging as a quality controller where she retired.
Betty was well loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair doing crossword puzzles (what she mastered), watching Westerns, sewing her clothes (which her daughter Sheila followed in her footsteps). Betty had a green thumb where she nurtured several plants back to life. Her past time was spent enjoying the company of her children, grands and her siblings. Most of all she enjoyed listening to Gospel Music and reading her bible.
She was a member of Refuge of Grace Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery L. Robinson where she was ordained as an Evangelist.
Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help. 2: My help cometh from the Lord which made Heaven and Earth.
8: The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth and even forever more. Mom loved the Lord and now she is rejoicing in his presence.
Betty leaves her love and memories to her 5 children. Lois (Ronald) Carroll of Landisville, Cynthia Myrick of North Jersey, Sheila (Edward) Wilson of Bridgeton, Leon Jr. (Nema) Jackson of Vineland and Sylvia (Wilfredo) Rodriguez. Betty also leaves behind ex-husband and life-long friend Leon Jackson Sr of Vineland. Betty has 19 grandchildren and a host of great-children, nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty also leaves behind 6 siblings, William R. Kemp of Vineland, Gladys M. Taylor of Vineland, Barbara A. Kemp of New York, Robert L. Kemp Sr. of Vineland, Shirley A. Davis of Vineland and Geraldine Robinson of Millville.
Betty is predeceased by 2 sons Phillip A Kemp and Ralph Jackson.
