Calpurnia Butler's Obituary

Calpurnia Butler affectionately known as Carol, 84, of Bridgeton, NJ, passed away at home on December 31, 2021.  Carol was born on November 20, 1937, in Murfreesboro, NC to the late Johnnie Mae and Hubert C. Parker.  She moved to Bridgeton, NJ at the age of nine.  She met and married the late Nathaniel Butler Sr., from the union two children were born Sharon E. Butler and Brian T. Butler Sr. and son Nathaniel Butler Jr. from a previous marriage.

Carol moved to Camden, NJ in the early 70's where she raised her children.  She received her GED followed by her LPN License from vocational technical school.  In 1982, she became a Registered Nurse graduating the same year and school as her daughter.  She worked at Cooper Hospital for more than 20 years of her career.  After leaving Cooper Hospital, she began working for Maxim Health Care becoming a Home Health Nurse for her beloved patient, John who previously passed.  She later retired from Nursing at the age of 74.  She loved the field of Nursing.

Carol was known for her loving and caring nature.  She would give you the shirt off her back.  She was always there to make sure no one felt alone.  She was good to everyone who came into her path.  During the Christmas holiday she wanted to make sure every child in the neighborhood had a gift so they wouldn't feel left out.  She became a member of Tabernacle of Deliverance in 1997.

She leaves to cherish her memories her two children, Sharon E. Butler-Hunter of Seabrook, NJ and Brian T. Butler (Janet) of Seabrook, NJ; adopted daughter, Anna R. Davis (James) of Millville, NJ; adopted son, Dennis Holley; six grandchildren,  Katrina Hill (Robert) of Syracuse, Brian Butler Jr. of Millville, Adriana Butler-Rawls (Charles) of Philadelphia,  Karinda Hunter of Seabrook, Keidra Butler of Philadelphia and Karrian Hunter of Seabrook; thirteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren; sister, Donna Clark (Clarence) of Millville, two brothers, Vaughn (Naomi) of Florida and David (margarite) of Virginia; four nephews, one niece and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Carol was proceeded in death by her husband Nathaniel Butler Sr., mother Johnnie Mae Parker, father Hubert C. Parker, twin sisters Elma and Thelma Parker, son Nathaniel Butler Jr., son-in-law Ronald Hunter and nephew Stanley  Parker.
