Charles Andrew Newman was born on November 21,1937 and departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Charles was born to the late Carnell Newman (McFarland) and Exodus Newman in McBee, South Carolina and relocated to Mizpah, New Jersey at an early age.

Lovingly known as "Challie" to many and Pop to his grandchildren, Charles attended Mizpah schools and Pleasantville High School. Thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served several years while stationed in Germany from which he was honorably discharged. In 1962, Charles married Arline Melvins from Glassboro, NJ and through this union there were 6 children.

Charles became an LPN in nursing and was employed at Ancora Hospital in Hammonton, NJ for 33 years where he retired. In 1971 he was named #1 in the state of NJ for State Boards in nursing. Charles was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Mizpah, NJ and served on the Board of Trustees when he joined the church in 2000. Charles loved gardening, and anything to do with the outdoors. You couldn't tell him that he didn't have a license to drive his riding lawn mower down Melvin Newton Blvd!

Charles was a family man who loved visiting and checking on everyone, not only family and would also give the shirt off his back to anyone if in need. After retiring he loved to contribute to the community in his spare time, which included delivering meals throughout the community. He was an avid reader who loved history and loved to watch sports.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Arline Newman of sixty-three years, Children; Darryl Newman, Paul (Kevin) Newman (Diane), Valorie Newman, Charlene Newman, Crystal Newman Tropiano (Chris), Goddaughter Larrell Johnson-Fonville. His siblings; Tyrone Newman Sr (Sandra) and Joe McFarland. Predeceased by parents; Carnell Newman (McFarland) and Exodus Newman Siblings; Alvin Newman, Julian Newman, Edward Newman, Coel McFarland, Sister; Sarah Kirkwood and daughter Michelle Brooks. Charles is also survived by a host of family, friends, 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
