Cynthia Ann Dawkins went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2022. She was born on September 13, 1953 in Bridgeton, N.J. to the late Robert D. Burks Sr. and Luella Carter - Quinones.
Cynthia graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1971. After high school, Cynthia married Philo V. Dawkins and started a family. She was a stay-at-home mom until all of her children were old enough to stay in school longer. She began her career in 1983 at the Cumberland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgeton, NJ as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), which she worked there for 7 years. In 1990, she worked at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home as a CNA in Vineland until her retirement in 2010. As a hard worker and dedicated mother, she ensured that her children were well taken care of. Cynthia enjoyed cruising and spending quality time with her family and friends. She hosted various holiday celebrations and Sunday gatherings in her home. She also enjoyed staying home to watch westerns, soap operas, and Lifetime movies.
Cynthia leaves behind to cherish her precious memory: Four children; Cynthia D. Dawkins of Vineland, Michael A. Dawkins of Atlantic City, Richard V. Dawkins of Vineland, and Alvin L. Dawkins Sr. of Gouldtown. Two sisters; Valerie L. Smith of Gouldtown and Addie Lee Marshall of Florida. Two brothers: Ronald Carter of Georgia, and Roderick (Diana) Carter of Las Vegas. Four grandchildren; Taron Clark, Tarrell Clark, Alvin Dawkins Jr., and Layla Shakir. Three great grandchildren: Taron Clark Jr., Dream Dawkins, and Nandi Allen. Four nieces: Shavonne Carter, Shanta Smith, Tashee Coles, and Sianni Hall. Six nephews; Bryan Smith Jr., Jerome Forrest, Ezra Pernell, Cameron Carter, Keyshawn Marshall, Kentral Marshall and a host of in-laws, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cynthia was predeceased by her fiancée Ronald Pernell; grandparents James and Rebther Lanier; sister Rebecca Carter; brother Robert D. Burks Jr.; brother-in-law Palty (Patrick) Nelson; aunt Magdalene Moses; cousin Ella Mae Nelson; and nephew Shaborn Burden.
