David Channell,
Jr.
October 14, 1969 – September 18, 2022
DAVID CHANNELL JR., born October 14, 1969, in Ailey, Ga, he was the youngest son of David and Edie Channel. Affectionately called Juney, and sometimes June, by family and friends.
Juney graduated from Cumberland Regional High School. Then, he pursued a Criminal Justice Degree from Cumberland County College.
A devoted husband, father, and family man, David always prioritized his family. On September 16, 2000, David married his High School sweetheart and the love of his life. On the evening of their 22nd anniversary, he shared with his oldest daughter and granddaughter that he only wished that he had married his wife, Stephanie, sooner.
Since the tender age of 14, David became the man of his household. He traveled with County Fairs throughout the U.S. and Canada, while making wise investments. His first business was Investment Properties with D&S, where he gave jobs to men in the community struggling to make ends meet.
David was a man of distinction, distinguished by his spirit of wisdom and excellence. He was a good man, a loyal friend, and an upstanding man in his community. A superhero to his family and his community, he always had his hands stretched forth to give. He was a well-respected living legend. Juney positively impacted the lives of many.
Often found sharing knowledge with others, cracking jokes, and laughing heartily, Juney was the life of the party. Whenever he showed up, one could almost always expect to have a good time.
Shortly before his home-going, David gave his life to the Lord, repented, and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Although, he was no stranger to the Lord, David experienced Him on a deeper, more intimate level. Juney will forever be remembered in our hearts along with the lessons he taught, the laughs he shared, and the memories he left.
He was survived by his wife: Stephanie, 2 daughters: Precious (Ronnie) Grier and Jacole (Stacey) Smith; 5 siblings: Caroline Channel, Kenneth (Phyllis) Summersett, Sheila Channell, Sonja (Simba) Chanakira, and Nicole (Tracy) McGarthur; 2 sisters-in-law Doris Jones and Aretha Sampson, 7 grandchildren: Ry'Hana, David, Ronnie Jr., Zi'Yon, Zi'Aae, Zi'Air, and Amir; a special nephew: Timothy "TC" Betterson; his father: David (Caroline) Channel; Brotherly friends: Antoine Rivera, Idris King, Tom Cupe, Steven Bailey, Walter Burton, Kevin (Bumper) Burden and Loren Joynes, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Juney was predeceased by his loving mother, Edie Summerset Channel, maternal grandparents James C. Summersett and Viola Reddick Summersett, paternal Johnnie Channel and Bernice Williams Channel.
