Deacon L E Morgan's Obituary

L E Morgan 94, of Brotmanville, NJ the husband of Gloria Mae Thompson-Morgan was called home on Saturday April 18, 2020.


L E was born April 14, 1926 to the late Sim and Jasie Bell – Morgan in Hickory, Mississippi. In 1944 he served in the US Army and received several honors.


In 1947 L E married Gloria Mae Thompson and enjoyed faithfully seventy-two years until the Lord called him home.


L E was employed by Farmers Cooperation, Norma NJ until he retired. L E and his wife Gloria owned and operated Morgan's Groceries for twenty years.
L E along with Sim Jr., and Sylvester (Dude) Boulton established the first boys Little League baseball team known as the Eagles for boys and the minor league called the 88 All Stars for adults in Brotmanville, NJ that proudly played throughout South Jersey.


He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, Brotmanville, NJ where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of Deacon's Ministry, and bus driver for the church choir. L E loved reading his Bible, telling Army stories, barbequing on his grill and loved a good road trip.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He would like for all the Eagle Fans to know he was a Dallas Cowboy Fan! He was further known for singing his favorite song "Jesus On the Mainline, Tell Him What You Want."


He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 72 years, Gloria Mae, eight children Rev. Dr. Albert L. Morgan, Deaconess Mae (Deacon Lionel) Woodley; Rev. Anthony (Dr. Lois) Morgan; Angie (Rick) Bradley, Dan Morgan, Drusilla Morgan, Darnell Cartwright and Shaniece Morgan, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; one sister Virginia (Carl) Seabrook, Bridgeton, NJ and one brother Rudolph Surry, Chicago, IL two sisters in law Ethel Morgan Bridgeton, NJ and Joann Reaves Brotmanville, NJ, a host of other relatives and friends.


He was predeceased by his siblings Helen (Harold) Swinton, Charlie Lewis Morgan, Flossie Morgan, Sim Jr, Annie Ruth (Sylvester) Boulton, Geneva (Henry) Brison, Mary Lee Morgan, and one grandson Shareef L. Lavan.
