Dolores M. Searles (nee Nicholas) formerly of Franklinville, NJ died on February 14, 2020 at the Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore Hospital in Neptune, NJ. Dolores was born on October 20, 1939 in Chester, Pennsylvania to Charles J. Nicholas, Jr and Eleanor (Hicks) Nicholas.
She grew up mostly in Morton, PA. later moving with her family to Philadelphia. She was a 1958 graduate of Overbrook High School. After graduation, she attended a business school for a course in Keypunching.
She began working at the Naval Depot and continued to take opportunities by advancing to other departments of the local government for the City in the department of Real Estate, Water, then transferred to the Philadelphia Police Department.
In February 1966, she married Roscoe Searles and moved to Franklinville and continued working in Philadelphia at Provident, National Bank until she became pregnant. She was a resident of Franklinville since 1966 and then moved to Central Jersey in 2014 to be near her brother and sister-in-law.
She was a member of Faith Fellowship Church and later transferred to St. Matthew's Baptist Church, Williamstown in 2002. God blessed her with a beautiful voice which she used to glorify her Savior by singing at various churches. She sang with the Sounds of Hope and other groups.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents, her husband Roscoe Searles and daughter Stephanie Gonzales.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Naomi Searles Rowe, grandchildren Caira, Arianna, Tanesha, Olivia, Neveah, Eliot, and Mariah; great grands Kharland and Kimune, sister, Juanita N. Ward (John), brother, Charles P. Nicholas (Carolann), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
