Dorothy A.
Sease
December 14, 1962 – March 1, 2024
In a manner that may be difficult to comprehend, God chose to call her back to Him. Though it may feel untimely, we must acknowledge that each of us will eventually embark on this journey. Sometimes, we question the reasons behind life's events, yet we can find solace in believing that God has a plan for us all, including our departure from this world.
Today, we gather to reflect upon and honor the life of Dorothy Anne Sease. Dorothy held significant roles in the lives of many; she was a daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, niece, cousin, godmother, and friend.
Dorothy was one of fifteen children born to the Late Willie and the Late Ida Mae (Fintch) Sease. She began her journey on December 14, 1962, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, where she received her education in the Bridgeton School System.
As a mother, Dorothy worked tirelessly to provide for her two children, Rysheen Sease and Shantel McLean. Her professional endeavors included employment at Bayada Nursing, Visiting Nursing Association, and Let's Do Linen. Additionally, she briefly served as a housekeeper in Atlantic City and pursued hairstyling during her leisure time. Dorothy's entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Dartell's, a venture specializing in handcrafted, affordable beaded jewelry.
Dorothy cherished moments spent with her loved ones, sharing laughter and meals. She enjoyed watching Western movies, "In the Heat of the Night," "Andy Griffith," and Lifetime programs. Dorothy loved listening to Olde but Goodies music and frequently visited the Independence Club.
Dorothy was a member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in her younger years under the guidance of Pastor Hargrove.
Dorothy departed this life on March 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy honored by her son, Rysheen Sease of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter, Shantel McLean, of Bridgeton; three grandchildren: Rysean Sease, Rysheen Sease, and Mahogany McGlone of Atlanta, Georgia; five sisters: Louvinia Smith of Philadelphia, PA, Shirley Sease of Salem, LaVerne Sease-Batie of Glassboro, Marilyn Sease of Vineland, and Carol Grace of Bridgeton; five brothers: Willie Sease, Jr., Robert, and Henry Sease, all of Bridgeton, Thomas Sease of Vineland, and John Sease of Millville; two brothers-in-law: Sherman Smith of Philadelphia, and Timothy Batie, Sr., of Glassboro; five sisters-in-law: Janice (Butler) Sease, Juanita (Johnson) Sease, and Antranett (Loatman) Sease of Bridgeton, Regina (Harris) Sease of Vineland, and Cheryl Pierce of Millville; one goddaughter: Kayla Rainner of Bridgeton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
