Eartha L
Smith
January 8, 1976 – February 15, 2025
Eartha L. "Toby" (Johnson) Smith, 49, of Millville, NJ, passed away on February 15, 2025. Born in Vineland, NJ, on January 8, 1976. Eartha lived most of her adult life in Millville, where she built a life filled with love, family and resilience.
She was the beloved daughter of Cheryl A. Brookings, who preceded her in death. Eartha was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Vincent Smith, her cherished daughter, Tynicha Blake, grandson Jamari Green and her dear aunt, Cornelia Mills.
Affectionately known as "Toby" by her family and friends, she was a devoted mother to her children: Willie Johnson, Tye-Rell Blake, Tyshaun martin, Trinadee Johnson, and Matthew Martin, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Eartha was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed as a manager at the Arc of Cape May, where she made a positive impact on the lives of others through her leadership and compassion.
She had a passion for cooking, always bringing family together over a good meal. Her sweet potato pie was legendary, a family favorite that no one could quite recreate, making its absence an even greater loss. She also had a deep love for crabs, which she considered her absolute favorite dish. Whether gathering around the table with family or enjoying a quiet moment to herself, food was one of the ways she shared her love and joy.
She enjoyed the excitement of going to the casino, where she found joy in the thrill of the game. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, love and warmth.
Eartha is survived by her sister, Tyreasea Johnson-Mason, who loved her dearly and will cherish her memory always. She is also survived by her uncles, Earl Johnson, Lyndon Johnson and Brian Johnson, along with a host of family and friends who will miss her deeply.
Eartha's warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and joy, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains in every shared meal, every moment of laughter, and every cherished memory.
