Elaine Marian Copes the wife of the late Richard Copes, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 09, 2018, surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.

Elaine was born July 15, 1939, in Springtown, New Jersey, to Arnetta M. Kemp where she attended Springtown School System. Elaine married Richard L. copes on September 28, 1957.

She joined Union Baptist Temple on December 12, 1996 and attended regularly until her illness and could be seen every Sunday in the back row. Elaine was a part of the UBT Doorkeepers and also active in the kitchen.

"Fat Mom-Mom" as called affectionately by her family. She enjoyed cooking for those she loved. Elaine was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory seven children; Jeanette Copes of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Richard Copes of West Palm Beach, Florida, Ronald (Francine) Copes of Hinesville, Georgia, Gary Copes of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Lionel (Tracy) Copes of Fairton, New Jersey, Larry (Barbara) Copes of Vineland, New Jersey, and Joyce Saunders of Bridgeton, New Jersey, 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Special cousin Violet Mason Bennett, special friends Georgina (Cruz) Thelma Scott, Elden Kennedy, Deborah Brown, Jermie Cheeks and many more relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Copes, her mother Arnetta Kemp, her oldest daughter Jacqueline Kemp, her grandson Stephen D. Jackson Jr. and great grandson Jermer Copes Jr.
