Elizabeth
Noel
July 25, 1925 – July 22, 2022
Elizabeth McDaniels Noel, 96, the youngest daughter of the late Robert McDaniels and Elizabeth Gibbs of Englewood, New Jersey, and foster daughter of the late Alexander and Amanda Bailey of South Jersey, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on July 22, 2022. Elizabeth was born on July 25, 1925. Elizabeth slept peacefully into her eternal rest with the Father on July 22, 2022.
Elizabeth was educated in the Salem City School System. She graduated from Salem High School on June 13, 1945. After graduating, Elizabeth moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she met Edward C. Wilkinson and became the loving mother of Edward, Jr., Henry, Wilbert, Joan, and Mary. Later in 1953, Elizabeth returned to Salem, New Jersey where she met her soul mate, Monroe Orange Noel. The pair first became acquainted as neighbors on Hedge Street in Salem. After a romantic courtship, the two became one as husband and wife on July 10, 1958, and later parents to Monroe, Jr., Thomas, Lloyd, and Lillie Ann. Elizabeth and Monroe enjoyed 53 years of friendship and marriage, before Monroe joined the heavenly choir on July 26, 2011.
Elizabeth was a loving and devoted wife, honored mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, adored aunt, treasured cousin, and esteemed friend. She was a second mom to many daughters and sons, and she always had an ear to hear, a caring heart, and a kind word replete with godly counsel and sage advice. Elizabeth never met any strangers. She had a warm, welcoming personality and a beautiful and contagious smile.
Elizabeth and Monroe were married at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where they both went on to become faithful and active members and servants. Elizabeth loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Elizabeth served beside her husband Monroe who was ordained as a Deacon and where he served and was honored as the chairman of the Deacon Board. Elizabeth was a Deaconess and a member of the usher board. Elizabeth loved to do projects for Women's Day. She dutifully participated in various fundraisers to support the ministries of the church. She eagerly went door to door to spread the good news of the gospel and collect donations. She baked her fair of cakes and treats and sold tickets for fashion shows and luncheons. She enjoyed serving side by side with her fellow saints in honor of God. She also attended Sunday School and served on various committees of the church. Elizabeth remained active at Mt. Zion, under Reverend Awood A. Jones, until her husband Monroe's passing in 2011.
At 88 years young, Elizabeth relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2013. She moved into a senior high-rise apartment and joined New Hope AME Church in the suburb of Buckhead, where Reverend Phillip Chisholm was pastor, and where Reverend David F. Richards, III is now serving as pastor. Elizabeth served on the Mother Board, actively attended bible study, and readily rendered a word of prayer when called upon. She made new friends and quickly got involved in her new community. She enjoyed taking day trips, dining out, going to the movies, and exercising in the fitness center in her apartment complex. In 2018, she earned a 1000 Miler Award from the fitness center because of her commitment to working out regularly on the treadmill. Elizabeth loved reading her bible, watching game shows, tv judge shows, family-oriented movies, crocheting, doing word puzzles, and playing games on her cell phone. She was sharp as a whip and could send text messages and jump on a FaceTime call like a teenager.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her son Thomas, daughter Mary, sisters Barbara, Ruth, and Julia, and great-great-grandson Rayshawn.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory; children, Edward (Jane) of Chambersburg, PA, Henry of Chesapeake, VA, Wilbert (Ratchaporn) of Herndon, VA, Joan (Blair) of Chesapeake, VA, Monroe (Nami) of Okinawa, Japan, Lloyd (Laura) of Toney, AL and Lillie Ann of
