Conaway, Jr.

Elwood Anthony Conaway, Jr., age 72 of Bear, Delaware, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2021. He was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on May 25, 1949, to the late Elwood Conaway, Sr. and Mary Margaret Conaway.
He received his education from Bridgeton High School where he graduated in 1968. Elwood attended Cumberland County College and received an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting. He continued his education at Goldey Beacom College, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Certifications in I.T. Program Management from University of Delaware.
Elwood, "Woody" as he was affectionately called, met and married Jacqueline Bowman, and built a home in Gouldtown, New Jersey where they settled and started a family. In his own words, "Family is very important to me, having raised 4 children. All are grown and gone, I'm a proud father and Pop-Pop now." Elwood was employed by E.I. DuPont for 40+ years until his retirement. He held numerous positions from Janitor, while starting a family, to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technician and finally I.T. Program Manager.
Woody loved building cars from the ground up, including kit cars. In addition to curating tours at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He loved attending car shows and traveling to foreign countries to follow Formula One racing. Elwood was an avid Moviegoer, foreign film buff and critic for the News Journal, and University of Delaware radio station known as the "Movie Guy" he loved his smooth jazz too. Woody traveled the world - Spain, Italy, Mexico, Greece, Germany, and China, just to name a few.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his children son, Elwood Anthony "Tony" (Stephanie) Conaway III of Fishers, IN 3 daughters, Michelle Nichole Alequine, of Wilmington, DE, Wendy Camille Hamilton of Beaufort, SC., and Monique Raquel Conaway of Germany, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Sharon Ann Conaway of Atlanta, GA, 4 brothers, Thomas (Valerie) Conaway of Sicklerville, NJ, Alexander Conaway Sr. of Glassboro, NJ, Patrick Conaway of Wilmington, DE, and Arnette Logan, of Millville, NJ.
He is predeceased by his parents, Elwood Conaway Sr. and Margaret Lanier, and his sister, Margaret "Poogie" Crowley.
Elwood leaves a host of other relatives and friends to cherish his memory.
