It is with great sadness that the family of Emma Ruth Baker, lovingly known as "Old Ruthie", announces her passing on June 14, 2020.

Emma was born in Broxton, Georgia on August 19, 1940 to the late Ola and Wesley Swain. The family moved to New Jersey in 1950. They lived in Cedarville - Newport area and she attended the Bridgton Public Schools, graduating in 1959. Shortly after high school, Emma met and married the late Reece Baker. Together they had eight children. Emma was a homemaker and in later years she worked for the Cumberland Regional School District.

Emma loved spending time with her family. She liked to cook for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the shore and out to dinner on special occasions. Watching Medea movies and plays was a favorite pastime of hers. Much like Medea, Emma was a strong woman and was quite serious when it came to her money!

She will be sadly missed by her four sons, Reese Jr., Benny, George and Joshua; one daughter Katherine; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Iris Swain; one brother Pastor Joe Swain and his wife Mary; one brother-in-law, Ron Baker and his wife Cookie; and a host of nieces and nephews- All deeply loved by her.

Emma was a pre deceased by an infant son John Baker; a daughter, Joyce Brown; two sisters, Molly Goodwin and May Swain; one brother, Daniel Swain; one sister-in-law, Cecil Swain and her parents Ola and Wesley Swain.
