Ernestine Hilton was the 4th oldest of 13 children, born on May 10, 1938 to Henry and Sarah Doughty, In Monks Corner, SC.
At the age of 13 years old Ernestine moved to Philadelphia, Pa. where she was raised by her older sister, Hennie Mae Washington.
TEEN, As she was affectionately called graduated from William Penn high school of Philadelphia Pa. Upon graduation Teen was employed by the City of Philadelphia Water Department and the Department of Health. She worked with them for 17 years.
In July 1972 Teen married John Hilton, at which time She relocated to Bridgeton, New Jersey.
Aunt Teen was a woman of faith and was a faithful member Since 1957 of Greater Refuge Church, located in Philadelphia, Pa. It was here where She was baptized in Jesus Name and Received the gift of the Holy Ghost. She remained a faithful member until it became a challenge to commute from Bridgeton, NJ to Philadelphia, Pa. She served in the Sunday school department, was on the hospitality committee, and sang on the "Voices of Refuge Choir ".
Ernestine, along with her husband the late John Hilton, enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their home, and enjoyed having annual cookouts at Parvin Park.
Many did not know that Ernestine was very creative. She could sew and do Upholstery craft. She was good with her hands.
Ernestine is survived by 4 sisters, Viola Varner and Connie Doughty of Moncks, SC and Rosabell Bryant and Deborah Doughty Of Philadelphia Pa., And a host of Nieces and Nephews, Her God children, Sheila Lee, Monica Spady, Desiree McCall, and Charles Fears; and a host of lifetime friends.
