Essie Mae (Boose) Hannah, age 94 passed away peacefully at home in Dorothy, NJ on
Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Born in Chunky, Mississippi to the late Albert and Lula
(Thompson) Boose, she was a loving wife to Lewis P. Hannah, Jr. (deceased 2006) and
a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Essie attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Rosenhayn, NJ; Mt. Calvary Baptist
Church, Mays Landing, NJ in which she served as a deaconess and most recently, Union
Baptist Temple, Bridgeton, NJ where she served as a deaconess and Mother. She served
on many axillaries including, the Usher Board, Sr. Choir, Sunday School, Missionary
Board, and Pastor's Aid. She was also a lifetime member of the NAACP.

Essie retired
from the Vineland Developmental Center, Vineland, NJ in 1993. Thereafter, she
managed her farm in Dorothy, NJ; she enjoyed gardening and loved caring for her flowers.
She also loved watching her Philadelphia Eagles.

She leaves to cherish her legacy: one sister, Geneva (Boose) Johnson of Richland, NJ.

Vineland, NJ; Anthony Hannah, (Francita) Dorothy, NJ; Albert Hannah (Tina) Vineland
NJ; Noel Hannah (Washington, DC) and Joseph Hannah
(Deanna) Upper Marlboro, MD and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-
great grandchildren, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by two sons, Waddell Hannah, Sr. and Roman Hannah.
