Evangeline Coursey of Port Norris passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ after a brief illness. Evangeline was born in Port Norris to the late James Beachaump and Eugenia Jones on June 9, 1953.
She spent her youth in Port Norris where she attended Port Norris School system. Evangeline met Alfred W. Coursey and they were inseparable. They married on June 23, 1973, and from this union they were blessed with 4 children.
Evangeline affectionately known as "Vang" was employed during her early years in the Oyster Industry in Port Norris. In her later years she worked for Tri County Community Action Partnership until retiring. Evangeline enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends, taking care of others and the NJ Lottery.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Alfred W. Coursey Jr. of Falls River, Mass and Jermaine Smith of Port Norris, NJ; two daughters, Angeline (Aaron) Harden and Andrea (Larry) Pretlow both of Port Norris, NJ; ten grandchildren, Alexis Coursey, Aaron Harden Jr., Alaysia Coursey and Arianna Dean all of Port Norris, NJ, Lauren LaSure of Elmer, NJ, Carmen Rivera and Selena Rivera both of Bridgeton, NJ, Diamond Coursey of Alabama, Aaliyah Coursey of Falls River, Mass and Antwan (LaShanta) Coursey of Salem, NJ; fifteen great grandchildren; seven sisters, Norma Jean Jones of Port Norris, NJ, Wendeline Jones, Virginia Smith, Eugenia Harden, Bernadine Harden, Gail (Howard) Ennals, and Louise Harden all of Millville, NJ; one brother, Thomas Smith Sr. of Laurel Lake; two special sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brown and Vanessa Coursey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her husband Alfred W. Coursey Sr., her brothers Kenny Broughton, Eugene Smith and Manford Harden and sister Shirley A. Harden.
