Fernell Jerome Pope was born on February 5, 1965, in Vineland NJ, to the late Queen E. Scott and Clyde McBride.
After graduating from Vineland High School in 1984, Fernell attended Glassboro State College where he partook in playing College Football before enlisting in the United States Army Reserves in 1986. Following , Fernell pursued a career as a truck driver in which he retired as an Owner & Operator from his own company, J&J Pope Trucking in 2015.
In June 1987, he was united in marriage to Karla Jean Pope. During this union of 33 and one -half years, they were blessed with two children. Fernell was a man of devote loyalty. He was highly respected in his community and known for being a loyal husband, loving father, and great leader. His love for serving the community was expressed in many ways. He coached and was president of Vineland Midget League Football, ran BBQ fundraisers in which everyone raved about his ribs. But most importantly, he served Jesus Christ.
Fernell was a member of United Fellowship Church where he founded the church's new home in Vineland, NJ.
On February 5, 2021 at 4:46pm, The Lord called Fernell home to be with the love of his life, eternally in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karla Jean Pope; his parents, Queen E. Scott, and Clyde McBride; his sister , Sonia Cook; and brother, Toni Henley.
Fernell leaves to mourn his loss and celebrate his life, his children, Chavon M. Pope and Chanelle M. Pope; three grandchildren, Leah L. Benjamin, Nala C. Robinson, Nuri K.J. Robinson; three sisters, Linda Simms of Vineland, NJ, Trellis Scott of Vineland, NJ, Katrina Dancey (Derrick) of Sicklerville, NJ; two brothers, Kevin Henley (Robin) of Philadelphia, PA, William Thomas Lee (Juanita) of Millville, NJ; three sisters -in law, Carmen Ocasio (Juan) of Vineland, NJ, Gail Fuller (Curtis) of Newport News, VA, Donna Flores (Tito) of Vineland, NJ; and one brother -in -law, Eduardo Ocasio Jr. (Veronica) of Glassboro, NJ. A host of nieces, nephews , and cousins. Fernell leaves with us his legacy, that will be honored by so many.
