George Walter
Green
May 7, 1951 – December 7, 2022
GEORGE WALTER GREEN was a loving and caring son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on May 7, 1951, in Bridgeton, N.J. to Mildred M. (Wright) Green and the late George R. Green.
George graduated from Millville High School in 1970, and a year later, in 1971, George would be drafted in the United States Army. George would serve just two years in the army, but in those two years he would be awarded the United States National Defense Service Medal, for his sharpshooter skills. George would be honorably discharged after his second year of service. Following his discharge, he began his working career with employment at Woodbine Developmental Center. George would then move to Columbia, South Carolina, where he worked as a human service technician, for South Carolina State Hospital for 6 years, but would soon return to New Jersey. Throughout his life his working career would include employment with Silverton Boatyard, Cobra Sports Fishing Boats, Joe Johnson Recycling, Vineland Veterans Home, and Golden Living/Rose City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
George left N.J. in 2004 taking residence in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he remained for 18 years. During his time of residency in Lancaster he trained and volunteered for a special program with the Salvation Army. George would also obtain his CNA license in 2006 and began employment with Golden Living/Rose City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His love for his residents showed with the care that he provided them, which resulted to many residents becoming like family to him. George would also be known to provide mentorship with some of his co-workers and the many people he cared for that he called friend. His mentorship would also include encouraging people to live their lives for Christ.
George recently returned to N.J., where he wanted to be closer to his family, and sought employment with the Vineland Veterans Home where he remained until his passing. George committed to maintaining his encouragement of the younger generation in his family by setting time aside to tell them how much he loved them and how he was proud of them, while pushing them to always be the best version of themselves. George loved to laugh and make people laugh, he was a great story teller, jokester and the life of conversation.
