Gerald L
Busby
September 5, 1956 – September 21, 2020
Gerald Lewis Busby (affectionally known as Buzz) was born on September 5, 1956 to the late Joe Lewis and Evelyn (Robinson) Busby in Ridgeland Hospital, South Carolina. He transitioned to his Heavenly home on September 21, 2020 after a brief hospital stay. Gerald and his family resided in South Carolina until the age of 12 at which time they moved to Newark, New Jersey. The family later relocated to Mizpah, NJ and resided on Estelle Avenue. Gerald attended school in the Mays Landing Public School System and graduated from Oakcrest High School in 1976. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army where he served for 2 years.
Gerald was employed by Progresso Foods for 24 years, followed by Aunt Kitty's Food before medically retiring in 2012.
In December 2001, Gerald met the Love of his life, Valerie Pierce and on January 21, 2004 they were married and the two families became one. In 2008 Gerald began attending church with his wife and eventually joined her in fellowship at Tabernacle of Deliverance Church under the leadership of Apostle Edith Burgess.
Gerald really enjoyed attending church and he took a great interest into keeping the church grounds looking nice. He consistently made sure that flowers were planted and the grass was cut. When he looked around and saw that something needed to be done, he would do his very best to take care of it, and if he couldn't do it, he was going to find someone who could.
Gerald loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and looked forward to watching them play every week especially when they played the Eagles. There was never a dull moment when Gerald was around and anyone that knew him, knew that his favorite sayings were "Do the Math", "Guaranteed" and "Wrong Answer." To know him was to Love him.
