Greta Phillis Verlander passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020, at home with her family by her side.

Greta was born on February 2, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Irene Copes-Walker and Eugene Walker. She had three siblings, the late Roberta Smith, the late Ethel Petrose and the late Marshall Walker.

Greta lived in Woodbury all her childhood and was a graduate of Woodbury High School. After high school, Greta married the late Willard Verlander. They were married or 41 years and resided in Woodbury. From this union there were two children, Barry, and Bonnie.

Greta worked for over 40 years in the dry-cleaning business including Orange Cleaners, Evergreen Cleaners, and Double Tree Cleaners. She was a dedicated employee who worked very hard. After retirement, she worked as a foster grandparent for the Glassboro Head Start. After the passing of her husband, Greta moved to Glassboro to live with her daughter Bonnie and family.

Greta was a very kind and loving person. Some of her favorite things were going on vacation with the family, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to the movies. She told everyone her favorite color was "Red". She was truly loved by her family.

Greta was a member of Mt. Zion Wesley United Methodist Church since 1983. She held several positions in the church including Treasurer of the Usher Board, Finance Committee Member, Member of the Trustees, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee Member, and for over 30 years, she was a devoted member of the Usher Board and Community Ushers.

Greta's favorite songs were: "Center of My Joy" and "Peace in the Valley". Her favorite scripture was "I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me." Philippians 4:13

Greta leaves to cherish her memory; her son Barry of Paulsboro, her daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Mark Hall of Glassboro, stepson Carlton Verlander of Pennsauken, brother-in-law James Verlander of Willingboro, four grandchildren, Vanessa Verlander of Paulsboro, Kevin Hall and his wife Sehba of Philadelphia, Kyle Hall of Glassboro, and Keith Hall of Glassboro, and most recent, her first great grandson, Jaden Hall, who God
