Gwendolyn Delores Burks Young was called home to rest on Friday August 30, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born December 17, 1949, in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Ida Mills and Edmond Mills. In 1973 she married Robert D. Burks who predeceased her in 1979. She later remarried Presley Young in 2014.

Gwen's early education was a part of Stow Creek Township School District. She then attended Bridgeton High School where she graduated. Gwen also attended Rowan University college and obtained some credits. She spent her career as an activity's coordinator at Cumberland Manor for 38 years. She later retired and went on to be a private live in home health aide. Gwen was a dedicated member of Christlike Ministries where she started out as a missionary, then moved on to be the only female elder of the church. She was the apostle's personal mentor. Gwen loved her church family.

In her leisure time Gwen enjoyed thrifting, shopping with her sisters, crafting and spending time with her family. She also had a passion for flower gardening. She loved to cook for her family and host NewYear's breakfast at her house. Her family made her happy.

Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her legacy three children: Sonya (David) Burks, Lisa Burks, her only son David Burks, all of Bridgeton, NJ, seven grandchildren: Ashley, Whitney, Donald, Jade, Jadayia, Jyonna, Dionni, six great grandchildren: Taneya, Damar, Kennedy, Jamar, Kori, Isaiah, six sisters: Marilyn, Joyce, Christine, Brenda, Cheryl, one brother Richard, 2 aunts Cora Marshall, Lola Mills, a best friend Sandra Damato, a dear friend Jocelyn Kemp and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a bunch of great friends.

She was predeceased in death by her mother Ida Mills, father Edmond C. Mills, brother Edmond K. Mills, great granddaughter Tomiya S. Burks, aunt Beulah Mills Jackson.
