Hazel H. Goldsboro's Obituary

Hazel Helen Goldsboro was born in Leon County, Tallahassee, Florida on July 15, 1928, to the late Oscar and Virginia Brown.  She wen home to rest in the arms of the Lord on February 7, 2023.

Born into a family with the Lord at the helm, Hazel was raised with Christian principles and Godly love.  She attended church regularly with her family and soon developed her own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Hazel was serious about her education and understood its value. Soon after graduating from Bridgeton Senior High School in 1947, she then attended Cheyney University in Philadelphia, PA.

Hazel was able to put her education to work and has had a fulfilling and varied work experience. She has been a teacher for the Bridgeton Public School System. Hazel was also employed and held various positions including office personnel and line lead at Owens Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton, NJ, where she retired after 25 years.  Hazel was also highlighted at an Owens Illinois social event in their monthly publication, "The Bulletin" when dressed as a little Dutch girl for the event. Later in life, she also worked at her son, Daryl Nelson's insurance office for a period of time.

Just as Hazel was raised in a loving family, she extended that love and instilled Godly principles to her children, Marjorie, Valerie, and Daryl. After meeting James Goldsboro, the two fell in love and married, spending many enjoyable moments together until his passing in February 2009.

Beyond being a wife and mother, Hazel was also active in her community. She served as a secretary for her local chapter of the NAACP. Hazel was also an Executive Board Member and Treasurer at Crusaders for Christ Church in Bridgeton, NJ, a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star of new Jersey and served on many other community organizations.

Hazel became a member of Truth Baptist Church in Newfield, NJ pastored by Pastor James E. Whyte and First lady Denise Whyte. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 23 and with the Lord as her Shepard, hazel has left a legacy that will last through her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all the lives she has touched.

Hazel is survived by her two children, Marjorie Nicholson (Stanley), Valerie Curtis (Charles) and brother, Morris Brown (Betty), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her siblings, Lillie Mae Turner, Frank Turner, Estine Davis, Lenton Brown, Marie Esquilin, her son, Daryl Nelson and husband, James Goldsboro preceded her to Glory.
