Ida Mae Pitts daughter of the late Albert Cowins and LuDella Cowins was born May 15, 1936, in Warrenton, GA departed this life Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Ida received her education at Warrenton County Public School System. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She worked at Seabrook, Ritters and retired from Hunts Company in Bridgeton, NJ. At a young age Ida accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior at Liberty Hill AME Church in Thompson, GA. When she came to New Jersey she joined Union Baptist Temple under Pastor R.W. Davis and years later she joined Wesley Memorial AME Zion Church in Rosenhayn, NJ, under Pastor Isaac Deshields Sr.
She liked to cook, bake, preach, pray, sing, and go out to different nursing facilities to pray with the patients. She loved to be surrounded by all her grandchildren, great grands to eat chicken, pizza, subs, and lemon pound cake. She liked to listen to gospel music, watch the preachers on television, and watch the different game shows. She watched Bonanza mostly throughout the day and would read her bible.
In addition she leaves to cherish her memory to three daughters: GeorgeAnne Crawford, Annette Allen, Grace Pitts all of Bridgeton, NJ, two sons: Lewis Pitts of Hammonton, NJ and Tony Govia of Millville, NJ, two sons-in-laws: Ernest Crawford of New York, NY, and Michael Allen of Bridgeton, NJ, one sister Gracie Canty, one brother Lacie Cowins, sister-in-law Francis Cowins all of Atlanta, GA. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She is predeceased by four brothers: Willie Cowins, Louis Cowins, Arthur Cowins and Jim Cowins, two sisters: Sarah Cowins and Addie Cowins. Additionally, she was predeceased by one son Eddie Milton Pitts, grandson Braheem Harris Pitts and husband George Nash Pitts.
