James Henry Burden, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ.

James was born on May 6, 1937, in Pelham, GA to the late Lizzie Burden Chappell. He was affectionately known as "Pop Pop."

He received his education in the Pelham School District. He was a deacon of Church of God of Prophecy for fifteen plus years.

James worked at L&M Insulation for 30 plus years. He enjoyed fishing, watching western shows. He was a die-hard WWE and San Francisco 49ers fan. But most of all he enjoyed loving his wife of 62 years of whom he called his "Hun."

James leaves to cherish his loving memory his lovely wife Hattie Mae Burden, daughter Deborah Burden, two sisters; Barbara Burden-Lee (Rusty), Doris (Winchell) Johnson, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother Lizzie Burden Chappell, son Junior Burden, daughters; Marie Burden, Debra Carter, Patricia Alston, grandson Jimar Burden, four sisters: Daisy Burden, Lousie Mack, Rosalee Badger, Rosetta Burden, brothers; George "Pookie" Chappell, Willie C. Burden, granddaughter Khelia Carter, great nephew Vincent Hornes, Jr.
