Janet Russell
Corsey
April 26, 1962 – January 22, 2021
Janet Russell-Corsey was born on April 26, 1962, when Robert Russell, Jr. and Virginia Moore welcomed their sixth and final child to their loving home. Janet passed away suddenly on January 22, 2021 at Inspira of Mullica Hill, New Jersey at the tender age of 58. Today, we celebrate the life of Janet, affectionately known as "Patty."
She grew up in Woodbury in close-knit family with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. From a young age, Patty was loving and passionate and shared her enthusiasm for life with everyone she encountered. She especially enjoyed music. She spoke her mind, and always willing to share her personal thoughts and feelings.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a child. She later rededicated her life as an adult and became a member of Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Glassboro, New Jersey. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
Patty was educated in the Woodbury Schools System and graduated 1981. As a freshman at Woodbury High, Patty competed against a crowded field of contestants in the school's talent show and placed second with a stirring rendition of "You Are My Friend" by Patti LaBelle. During her senior year, Patty met the love of her life Rodman Howard Corsey. After years of love and three children, they married on June 6, 2012.
Throughout her years Patty held many occupations. She was employed as a cook at Wendy's, a ShopRite deli associate and a housekeeper. The job she cherished the most was being a mother to Michael, Jamar and Bianka.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Russell, Jr. and Virginia Moore; a sister, Jeanette Russell; twin brothers, Ronnie, Sr. and Robert Russell, III and her beloved cat "Nyles."
She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory, her husband, Rodman; three children, Michael Jermaine Corsey, Jamar Isaiah Howard Russell, and Bianka Marie Corsey; a sister, Geraldine Lyons (Judson) a brother, Mark Russell (Claire); sisters-in-law, Shari (Sweetie) Russell, Patricia L. C. Kelly (Kenneth), and Nancy Crocetto brothers-in-law, Lloyd David Corsey, Guy Richard Corsey, Sherman Neal Corsey (Crystal) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
"She's not physically here anymore, but her love and light live on forever."
