Jerel George Henry's Obituary

Jerel George Henry (76), affectionately known as "Daddy Lee", "Brother Lee", and "Uncle Lee," made histransition to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Lee was born July 30, 1944, to the late Ephraim and Alberta Henry, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, W.I., and was the youngest of 13 children. Lee was educated at St. Catherine All Age School. While in Jamaica, he was a taxi driver, and a cultivator.

On November 23, 1976, Lee immigrated to the United States, in hopes for a better life. He worked a few jobs before starting his career, in Environmental Services, at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, where he remained until retiring after 32 years of service. In 1985, Lee met the love of his life Hilda Rennie (Rose). In 1993 they tied the knot, and "made life together." Their union produced 4 children.

Daddy Lee was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He took pride in doing projects around the house and would spend the weekends fixing, cutting grass, and admiring the beautiful flowers his wife planted.

Daddy Lee enjoyed going on vacations, especially, on cruises. Thirteen cruises to be exact. In addition, he enjoyed traveling to Jamaica and Canada to visit family and friends.

One of his favorite pastimes during Summers, would be a drive-out to Philadelphia with his family, to hang out with his "Philly Crew" at Fairmount Park. On his days off, Lee enjoyed watching wrestling and the daytime Court Room shows. But more importantly, he loved watching "Dancing with the Stars" with his beloved Rose.

Daddy Lee was a father figure to many. He was always there when you needed someone to talk to, and would listen to you for hours without judgment or ridicule. Any secret you told him, stayed with him. To know him is to love him. He was kind, funny, trusting, encouraging, and unfiltered. He greeted everyone with a smile, and his favorite words of endearment were "baby cakes", "killa", "dread", and "champ." When talking with daddy Lee he would always say that you were "mixed up", but we all knew he was "mixed up."

Lee was a God fearing man, who believed in doing right by others, loving others, and helping anyone in need. He supported his wife in all the charitable works she did. He often encouraged her to continue doing God's work.

As a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend; Lee leaves to cherish his wife Hilda Henry (Rose), of Bridgeton N.J. Children, Oneil Francis of Millville, N.J., Ewan Henry (Lakeisha Henry) of Clayton, N.J., Teneya Reid (Ricky Reid) of Bridgeton, N.J. and Simone Henry of Bridgeton, N.J. four grandchildren (Tahelia, Resean, Rae, and Winston), and a host of nieces, nephews (whom he raised as his own,)
relatives, and friends.

He is survived by three brothers, Chep Henry of Jamaica, and Solomon and Joseph Henry of England. Daddy Lee, you will be sorely missed and forever cherished in our hearts. Rest Well.
