Jermaine S.
Scurry
December 20, 1976 – March 22, 2026
Jermaine Samuel Scurry, 49, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him most.
Jermaine was born on December 20, 1976, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to William and Dorothy Garrison and Leon, Jr. and Myra Robinson. He grew up between Bridgeton and Rosenhayn NJ, graduating from Cumberland Regional High School with the Class of 1996. Jermaine continued his education at various universities and ultimately earned his degree from Rowan University. He worked in the laborer and boilermaker unions before branching out to start his own successful business, CGC (Carmel General Contracting), which exemplified his drive, leadership, and determination.
Jermaine was an outgoing, charismatic man deeply connected to his community. He knew everyone and treated everyone like family. Always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or crack a joke at just the right time, Jermaine had a heart of gold. He was a natural peacemaker, a loyal friend, and a father figure to many, especially his players as a dedicated youth football coach at the Cumberland Midget Football League. His infectious laugh and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A lifelong lover of sports, Jermaine excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track during his school years, continuing football in college. He passionately followed his favorite teams, the Arizona Cardinals and the UNC Tar Heels. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing with his uncles, playing golf, vacationing with his family, caring for his beloved dogs, listening to music, and collecting cherished items and memories.
Jermaine’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Karen, and a proud, loving father to his daughters, Ava and Ranae. His love for them was limitless, demonstrated through his constant encouragement, humor, and the solid foundation he built for their futures.
Jermaine is survived by his loving wife, Karen Scurry; daughters, Ava and Ranae Scurry; mother, Dorothy Garrison; father, Leon Robinson, Jr. (Myra); brothers, William Rowe, Sr., Kyle Browne (Jennifer), Edward Fentress (Mireille), and Tydell Garrison; sisters, Nakia Scurry, Lencola Jones, Paulette Nelson (Sean), and Ashley Robinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends who cherished him.
He was preceded in death by his dad William Garrison; grandparents Dorothy Simpson, Jerome Wright, Leon Robinson, Sr., and Catherine Robinson; uncles Garnold Scurry, Ronald Simpson, Larry Purnell, Barry Purnell, and Murphy Reynolds; and Aunt Jacqueline Purnell.
Jermaine’s warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence was a blessing, and his memory will forever shine bright.
