On Saturday, September 10, 2022, the angel of death quietly entered John Gibbons transiting him into eternal life.  He was born February 17, 1951, to the late Edgar Jetto and Mattie Gibbons.  He was the  husband of Wanda (Powell) Gibbons.

In his early years of high school, John graduated in 1969 having fun as an athlete for the Bridgeton High School, "Bulldogs".  After graduating from high school, he was employed by Murbeck for many years until they closed.  Later in his life he was employed by Clement Pappas.  John was very dedicated to his community and career.  During those years he became a pillar of his community and volunteered as a recreational referee for many years.  As an adult he joined Truth Baptist Church and began to work for the Lord, serving as an Usher and Trustee.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Wanda and stepchildren whom he loved dearly; his brothers, Robert (Roberta-deceased), Willie, Otis and Tom (Linda); his sisters, Flora (Gladstone-deceased) and Mary (William-deceased); his loving god daughter, Emani Patterson and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Jetto and Mattie Gibbons, his brother Edward (Bo Bo) Gibbons and sister Beachla (Nicky) Gibbons.
