John Yates Jr. was born on December 23, 1931 in Woodstown, NJ to John Sr. and Martha Yates.
He attended Morning Star Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early
age. John was passionate and dedicated to church and ministry. Over the years he was involved in
multiple church ministries to include the Male Chorus and Trustee Board.

John was employed by Ball Foster Glass Corp in Millville (previously Armstrong Cork Company, Kerr Glass
and Foster Forbes) for 29 years where he worked and flourished as a Shipping Supervisor. This would
also be the location where he had the pleasure of meeting the love of his life and soulmate Mae E.
Joynes.

John enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoying travel, weekly trips to the casino and watching sports on
television. His jovial demeanor and guaranteed jokes were always a welcome addition to every family
gathering.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Martha Yates, soulmate Mae Joynes, son Johnny Joynes,
brothers Lester Taylor and Joseph Yates, Sisters Dorothy Yates and Sara Yates-Ford.
John leaves to cherish his memory: Sons Rodney, Donald and Loren Joynes; Sisters, Olive (Ollie) Reid and
Alberta Yates; grandchildren: Evangeline, Dominique, Jaden and Christian Joynes, Chelsea White, and
Vivian Klimiont. He is also cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
