Kenneth Richard
Showalter
August 14, 1963 – July 6, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Showalter Sr, "Kenny," who left us way too soon at the age of 61.
Ken was born at Wright-Paterson Air Force base in Dayton, Ohio. He lived in Guam for a while, and it has always been a dream of
his to return. Ken graduated from Willingboro High School, and also attended tractor trailer driving school.
Kenny was in the Air Force and he was very proud of his service. Our flag will forever fly at half staff to honor him.
Ken and Gerrie have been married for 37 years. They faced many challenges in life, but they always stood by each other and
faced them together. Nothing was ever too big for the two of them.
Kenny's world, and the reason he worked so hard, was for his family. His wife Gerrie Showalter and his children; Jessica Showalter
34, KC Showalter 28, Dakota Showalter 25, and KJ Showalter 21.
Ken is also survived by his sister Cherie, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law and friend Kathy Showalter, and mother-in-law Gerrie McGrath. His furry friends will miss him too; Roxie, Mowgli, and Cinder. He loved you all.
Kenny was the number #1 dance dad for PCPAT. He was known far and wide as "Uncle Kenny." He was always there for his "kids" to
give them encouragement, a hug, or to build a prop for competition.
Kenny has worked at McLane for 21 years, but has been a trucker for 37 years. He proudly drove his truck up and down the highways where he always felt the most comfortable, and he always picked the longest runs to make sure his family had everything they needed.
Ken was always helping anyone who needed it. One time, he disappeared for over two hours when he only went to Wawa. When he finally got home he told me a story about a lady whose car broke down, she really needed help. She needed a new car battery, so he went and bought one and put it in for her. That's the kind of person Ken was.
Kenny loved Halloween and Christmas, and always made our house look beautiful. He wanted everyone to feel the magic of the holidays, which will be carried on by his children through their love of the holidays. One year he even won 2nd place in Salem County for his decorations.
Kenny is predeceased by his parents Robert and Shirley Showalter, his brothers; Bobby, Bill, and David.
Ken's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at 11am at the Pennsville Assembly of God Church (328 N Broadway,
Pennsville, NJ, 08070).
Please wear shorts and flip flops to truly honor Ken's memory. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Ken's name to the Salem County Humane Society.
