With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, builder, teacher, and friend, Kirby Dariel Combs, who departed this life on July 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with health issues. Born on December 9, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Kirby lived a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, unwavering love, and selfless devotion to his family.

Kirby was a man of God, the devoted husband of LaWanda Combs and the proud father of Shakirya Combs, Danielle Combs, and Courtney Combs. Everything he did was for his family. He worked tirelessly to ensure his wife and daughters were cared for, protected, and never without. His love wasn't always expressed through words—it was shown through sacrifice, long hours, dependable hands, and a lifetime of making sure his family always had what they needed.

Though naturally quiet, Kirby possessed a brilliant mind and an incredibly sharp wit. He didn't seek attention or recognition; instead, he let his work, his character, and his integrity speak for him. Those who knew him understood that behind his calm demeanor was a man of great wisdom, deep thought, and unwavering determination.

As a proud Black contractor and entrepreneur, Kirby built far more than houses—he built a legacy. Through KDC Custom Builders, which later evolved into Around the Clock Construction and Logistics, he demonstrated what dedication, perseverance, and excellence could accomplish. Every home he built reflected the pride he took in his craft, but even greater was the example he set for his daughters and everyone who watched him work. He proved that dreams could be built from the ground up with faith, discipline, and relentless effort.

Kirby's greatest accomplishment, however, was not measured in the homes he constructed but in the family he nurtured. He was the one everyone depended on to fix what was broken. Whether it was a home repair, a construction project, or a problem that seemed impossible, Kirby always found a solution. While he often preferred to do the work himself, he never missed an opportunity to teach his daughters how to build, repair, and understand the value of working with their own hands. Those lessons became life lessons—teaching patience, resilience, responsibility, and the importance of taking pride in everything you do.

He was known for his perfectly timed jokes, his unforgettable one-liners, and the wisdom hidden within everyday conversations. Many of his lessons didn't fully reveal their meaning until years later, a testament to the thoughtful father he was. His words continue to guide those who loved him.

Outside of work, Kirby appreciated life's simple joys. He loved watching movies, playing Toon Blast, enjoying a bowl of butter pecan ice cream, and remaining a country boy at heart. He found peace in nature and had a special love for horses, cows, and the outdoors. Those who knew him best understood that beneath his hardworking exterior was a gentle soul who found comfort in the quiet beauty of the world around him.

The homes Kirby built will stand for years to come, but the greatest foundation he ever laid was one of love, faithfulness, hard work, and family. His legacy lives on in every lesson he taught, every laugh he shared, every sacrifice he made, and every life he touched.

One granddaughter Leia P. Lawson of Williamstown NJ. He is survived by 3 siblings: Jerry Combs (Lisa), Jackie Beasley, and Marilyn Faye Combs. 2 siblings preceded in death: Rodney Combs, and Stephanie Combs. Both Parents preceded in death: Mattie Eva Combs and Verdis Lee Combs. Kirby also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, lifelong friends, colleagues, and countless others whose lives were enriched by his strength, kindness, wisdom, and example.

Our hearts are broken by his passing, but they are also filled with gratitude. We are grateful for every moment we shared with him, every lesson he patiently taught, every problem he quietly solved, and every act of love he gave without expecting anything in return.

He may no longer walk beside us, but his wisdom will guide us, his love will comfort us, and his legacy will live within us forever.
