Jones Jr.
October 4, 1959 – November 10, 2020
Lacey Henry Jones Jr. went home suddenly to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the age of 61 years old.
He was born in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Lacey Henry Jones, Sr. and Mary Frances Johnson Jones on October 4, 1959. He was the oldest of eight children.
Lacey attended the Bridgeton Public School system and graduated from BHS in 1978. Lacey joined the US Army Airborne Division in June 1978. Lacey joined Union Baptist Temple in March 2000 where he faithfully served on Manpower, South Jersey Men's Community Choir and also the duty of custodian for the church.
Lacey was employed at Cumberland County Improvement Authority, Vineland, NJ for twelve years, as a supervisor. Trump Plaza, Atlantic City, Clement Pappas, and numerous other jobs.
Lacey enjoyed playing softball, shooting pool, watching sports on TV, and spending time with his family and loved ones, especially his nephew Walter Williams (Sprewell) daily. He loved sandwiches. Every time he would come over, he would say "got any lunch meat and cheese or something I can put between some bread to make a sandwich?"
Lacey started cutting hair around the age of 15 and continued throughout his life. He was known as Amity Heights barber. Lacey was the barber for his Uncle Manuel, Uncle Alec, and brother-in-law Walt.
He leaves to cherish his wife Gwendolyn Joynes Jones, of Bridgeton, NJ, mother, Mary (Frances) Jones of Bridgeton, NJ, children; Shamyra Brown Mosley (Jamere), Lacey Henry Jones III, 6 children he helped raise as his own; Linda and Edward Brown, Cindy Brown Jones, Arron and Antwuan Roberts and Shamika Dairsaw, five sisters; Brenda (Walt) Williams, Annette and Denise Jones, Doris (Victor) Cunningham, Henrietta Lingo of Columbia, SC, three brothers; Curtis, Purman, Kevin (Wanda) Jones. Four grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends; The late Gary Fuller, Eugene Hicks, George Dairsaw, the Hat Committee friends, William (Bill) Holbrook Sr., James (Chico) Rivera, Anthony Hicks (Turtle).
He was predeceased by his father, Lacey Henry Jones Sr., maternal grandparents, George Johnson Sr., Claude and Eloise Cooke, paternal grandparents, Forest and Lucille Jones, nephews, Damon and Curtis Jones, Brother-in-law Dwayne Lingo.
