Lawrence Walter “Larry” Point, of Woodstown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Larry was born on February 13, 1943 in Camden, NJ, but lived most of his life in Woodstown, where the family moved when he was 9 years old. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College and his Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1968. For the next 45 years, he practiced law with the firm of Acton & Point before joining Helmer, Conley & Kasselman, P.A. in 2012. On March 16, 1968, Larry married the love of his life, Frances Key, whom he met during his time in law school in the shared mailroom of their apartment building. Together they raised two daughters.

Larry devoted his professional life to the community he deeply loved. Throughout his distinguished legal career, he represented numerous local institutions, including Woodstown National Bank and Trust Company, First National Bank of Elmer, the Borough of Woodstown, and Pilesgrove Township. He was also known for his work in support of local farmers and the preservation of South Jersey’s farmland through the NJ Right to Farm legislation. Larry also donated his time in service to the legal community, including eleven years on the New Jersey Supreme Court’s District Ethics Committee, four years on the Supreme Court’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and five years on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Judicial Appointments Committee. He was also a member and past president of the Salem County Bar Association and a member of the New Jersey State and American Bar Associations. In 1997, he was named Salem County Professional Lawyer of the Year by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law.

Larry was a man of deep faith and unwavering devotion to his church. He served the church for many years as a Deacon and as an Elder at Pitman Road Church of Christ, where he was known for his wisdom, compassion, and steady leadership. A Bible scholar, particularly interested in the books of the Law and the Old Testament’s foreshadowing of Jesus, Larry taught generations of adults and teenagers within the Pitman church family.

Larry was an accomplished athlete, serving as quarterback and playing baseball for the Wolverines in high school and representing Dickinson College in baseball, soccer, swimming, and diving. An avid golfer and passionate fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers, Larry especially enjoyed attending his daughters’ soccer and softball games and swim meets. He particularly looked forward to annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach with his father, brothers-in-law, and cousin and taking his daughters to Phillies and Flyers games.

All who knew Larry will remember him as a man of integrity, service and faith and as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. They will also remember his sharp wit and his at times sardonic sense of humor as well as his unwavering commitment to fairness, honesty, and compassion.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Frances Key Point; his daughter, Teresa Sussman and her husband, Matt Sussman; his cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Milo Sussman; his son-in-law, James Smith; his sisters Susan Point Millington (Tom) and Terryanne Point (James Seltzer), and his nephew Rich Millington and niece Lauren Millington Antonison (Richard).

He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Katherine Point Smith, and granddaughter, Prudence, and by his parents James Lawrence Point and Emma Staas Point.
