Levi
Lockamy
February 4, 1929 – October 18, 2020
On Sunday October 18, 2020 at his home, God, in His infinite, unerring wisdom and divine love, suddenly called from our midst Reverend Dr. Levi Lockamy and granted him everlasting peace and serenity.
Levi was born February 4, 1929 and raised in Newton Grove, North Carolina. Levi was one of eleven children born to the late Deacon Daniel and Katie Lockamy. His parents were of a strong Christian Faith that would serve as the foundation of his more than 50 years of pastoral care.
Levi worked and retired from Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington. While working, he achieved his pastoral qualifications. Since 1966, Levi Lockamy has been preaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As an ordained pastor, he served at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church
in Wilmington, Evangelical Fellowship Baptist Church in Philadelphia and has served for 39 years at St. Phillip's Missionary Baptist Church of Bridgeton.
During his ministry, Levi, through the inspiration of God, impacted many individuals and families through his powerful sermons, singing and counsel. Levi always taught that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." Roman 6:23. He also encouraged all to repent
of their sins, and to put on the whole armor of God and love one another. Even though a seasoned pastor, Levi would always reference the Reverend Gilbert Hamm of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Wilmington as his pastor and his home church.
Levi joins his loving wife Naomi Lockamy, a stepdaughter Dora J. Scott, ten siblings: Pauline Williams, Suzanne Richardson, Furney, Arthur, Richard, Janie, David, Mildred Housier, Shleby, and Badie and many other family members in Heaven.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his daughter, Dannett (George) Butler of Wilmington, DE, a stepson Albert C. Williams Jr. of Denver, CO, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, three sisters-in-law, Jean Lockamy, Woodbridge, VA, Betty Jean Corley, Aiken, SC, and Annie Mae Dawson, Vineland, N.J., a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and a wealth of God-Children and extended family. Additionally, he leaves behind his special aunt, Mary John Bennett (103) of Newton Grove, NC, whom he loved very much.
