Louise B Ford's Obituary

On the evening of August 2, 2021, Louise B. Ford quietly and peacefully departed from this mortal life and stepped into eternity.  She journeyed to a place that she knew was prepared for her and those who love and serve the Lord.  Louise was born on June 30, 1927 in Slickville, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas Bell and Lula Morrow Bell.

At an early age, Louise relocated to Salem, New Jersey where she attended Salem Public Schools.  Louise entered the work force at Anchor Glass in Salem, New Jersey and worked there until retied.  Louise married Luther W. Bunting, and from this union, Judith, Theresa, and Luther were born.  After her husband Luther W. Bunting died unexpectedly, Louise, years later met and married Richard L. Ford.  Upon Richard's death, Louise would relocate from Quinton, New Jersey to reside with her daughter, Judith and her son-in-law, Bobby Nichols.

Louise loved the Lord and accepted Christ and became a member of Haven United Methodist Church in Quinton, New Jersey.  Her favorite song was "The Lord is My Light" and conversely her favorite Scripture was Psalm 27 because she clearly and deeply believed that The Lord was Her Light.  Sister Louise was an avid scholar of the Bible and studied the "Word" with diligence and reverence.  She would receive a certificate in Bible from the Manna Bible Institute in Philadelphia and a Certificate of Completion from the Philadelphia Bible College in Pennsylvania under the tutelage of Reverend Albert Morgan.

Louise, always on the cutting edge of innovative teaching, used her knowledge of the written Word to write and produce Gospel Plays which were phenomenally successful.  She would further proclaim her love for God and His people by teaching Bible School and was especially proficient in teaching Women of the Bible.  Sister Louise loved her church and served as a Communion Steward, and Vice President and President of the United Methodist Women.  For many years, she served as both the Sunday School Superintendent and teacher of the Intermediate Class.  In addition to teaching, Louise served her church on the Pastor Parrish            Relations Committee, the Building Fund Committee, and Director of Vacation Bible School.  Louise was a Certified Lay Speaker and received a certificate of completion for the "Studies of Disciple Tree of Light, The Writings of John and Revelation" in June 2003.  As a natural leader, she was elected to both the positions of Vice President and President of the Delaware Bay District United Methodist Women.  Sister Louise was a delegate from Haven at the Annual United Methodist Conference.  Louise, a woman of innovation, often created new and positive fund-raising ideas and under her mastery, a massive "Smorgasbord" was founded.  This event afforded the church an opportunity to excel in their finances and rewarded the community with the most appetizing food.

Louise was not only active in the church but was also active in her community.  While in the position of Coordinator for Global Concerns, Louise wrote a letter to Senator Bill Bradley regarding apartheid in South America.  In her small community of Quinton, Louise served on the Board of Elections and earned a certificate of Volunteerism for her support and work at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Home Economics Program.  God gave Louise the vision to employ new ideas and experiences and through those visions, Louise established the first "Walk A Thon" which generated monies for Haven's Women's Days.  She also was active in Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, rejuvenated the Bunting Family Reunion and was a member of the Girl Scout Council # 149.

Louise, serene and genteel, was always a lady and all her works were done in detail and near perfection.  A great conversationalist, Louise was loquacious and never shunned away from a lively discussion.  She had the best sense of humor and could be found joking with friends and family.   She was a gifted cook and believed in making meals from scratch.  Her chicken pot-pie was community renown.  She was also a talented baker.  Louise baked the best coconut cakes and her blueberry and peach cobblers were mouthwatering.  Louise was often asked to bake birthday and wedding cakes and the results were always exemplary in taste, decoration and staging.

Louise joins her parents, Thomas and Lula Bell, her prior loved ones, Luther W. and Richard, her daughter, Judith, her sisters Beatrice Riley, Lily Mae Jenkins, Rosemary Bell; brothers, Charles, Joseph and Thomas Bell, Jr. She leaves to cherish fond memories her daughter, Theresa of Georgia and her son Luther, Jr. (Sharron) of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren, her sisters Alice Jean Rolle and Helen Craddock, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
