Mamie Lee
Evans -Cox
September 14, 1955 – March 15, 2025
Mamie Lee Evans-Cox was born on September 14, 1955 at the Bridgeton Hospital in Bridgeton, New Jersey to the late Marie "Doll" Evans and the late Jessie "Bubba" Cleary Evans. Mamie was the second to the youngest of 5 children. Mamie departed this life while on Hospice at the Samaritan Hospice on March 15, 2025, in Voorhees, NJ.
Mamie was raised in Vineland where she attended the Vineland Public school systems. As a young girl, you could find Mamie in church singing so passionately in the youth choir. She often would be heard anytime of the day, singing from behind the walls of the bathroom at home while creating hairstyles out of towels and whatever she could find. Her singing voice was powerful and left a lasting impression on all those that had the opportunity to witness hearing her sing.
Mamie was employed by the Vineland State School as a Direct Support Technician where she worked for over 18 years. Mamie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was united in marriage to George Rocky" Cox and they were married until he departed this life in 2018
Mamie re-dedicated her life to the Lord in 2005 after experiencing the healing power of God from a Brain Aneurysm. Mamie was a faithful member of Refuge Mission Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Rosenhayn, NJ. She served joyfully on the Missionary Board. Mamie desired so much more from God and found that she had a calling on her life. She was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel from the Fire Baptized Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Elizabeth Bowman. Min. Cox was currently serving as Pastor Aide president, Senior Missionary president, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday school, NJ District Ambassador, NJ District choir member and also helped with praise and worship during convention and District services.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her only daughter, Shrees Monique Evans, one living brother, Larry Evans (Sarah); 3 grandchildren, Lashanda Nakia Evans, Tyrone Fitzgerald Johnson, Jr., Cornelius Reginald Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memory a very special friend Virgie Carter.
Mamie was predeceased by her Mother Marie ""Doll" Evans; her Father Jessie Evans; her grandson, Trevon Marquise Johnson; and her husband, George Cox.
