January 5, 1946 – August 24, 2024
Mary Frances Armstead, affectionately known to family as Dolly, was born January 5, 1946. Dolly departed this life on August 24, 2024 to rest in the arms of the Lord at the age of 78. She was the second oldest of 12 children and born the late Dorothy M Watson & Forrest Branch in Burkeville, Virginia.
Dolly was raised and educated in Bridgeton, New Jersey. In the early 1960's, Dolly married the late Jencie Lee Taylor and from this union Jesse, Lisa, Linda and Glenda Taylor were born.
Mary was a hard worker and started her career at Vineland Developmental Center in 1970. She rose through the ranks and was often recognized for her work ethic and dedication. In 2005 Mary retired from her position at VDC as a CTS Supervisor after over 35 years of dedicated service.
Dolly was a true woman of God and placed the Lord at the head of her life. She would never miss an opportunity to pray for you. Mary was ordained and served over 40 years at Miracle Evangelist Deliverance Church where she served as Assistant Pastor.
Mary was known far and wide for her kind and gentle spirit along with the willingness to help those in need. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Although, most importantly, She Was A True Woman of God.
Mary leaves to Cherish her Memory, son Jesse (Butch) Taylor, 5 Grandchildren: Dominique (Charles) & Shameal Taylor, Ashli & Alex Weems & Walter Carter, 10 Great-grandchildren, nephew Keyon Thompson, Siblings: Sherry Forney, Rosemarie Stevens-Royster (Carl), Sharon & LeMaurice Thompson, Son-in-law Leonard Weems along with a host of family and friends. Dolly was predeceased by parents Dorthey Thompson & Forrest Branch, daughters Lisa Weems, Glenda & Linda Taylor, grandson Dante Walker, brothers Eugene Watson, Noah Finney, Melvin, Larry, David, Jimmy & Kim Thompson.
