Mary Esther Moore affectionately known as "MayEsta" was born on May 30, 1939, in Cheraw, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Minnie Lou Bertha Harrington (aka Bertha Scott) and James L. Lindsey. She departed this life on February 23, 2025, leaving behind a life of love, resilience, and cherished memories.
Born and raised on a farm in South Carolina, MayEsta later moved with her parents to Vineland, New Jersey, where she grew up and lived a life filled with meaningful experiences and strong family bonds. She was married for a period to James R. Cartwright, and later met and married William Moore, spending time in Florida before ultimately returning to Vineland.
Throughout her life, she found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver, always eager to challenge her mind. She also loved watching her favorite shows, In the Heat of the Night, Westerns and Wheel of Fortune. These moments brought her comfort, laughter and a sense of peace. She was a member of the United House of Prayer of Vineland.
MayEsta was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Step-mother Lancie Lindsey, her beloved brothers Curlee, James, and Joseph Lindsey, Henry Scott and her eldest son Stenic Reaves Jr.
She leaves behind several cherished family members to treasure her memory.
Her Siblings: Delores Dockery, Anthony Scott, Ella Mae Scott, Lawrence Scott, Nona Scott and Eloise Patterson
Her Children:
Wesley Reaves, James Cartwright, Sharon Cartwright, Jacquelyn Clark and Gwendolyn Cartwright.
She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
MayEsta's life was a testament to strength, perseverance, and the enduring love she carried for her family, regardless of time or distance. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
May she rest in peace and love.
