Melvia J
Reid
January 9, 1941 – December 3, 2022
It is our distinct pleasure to introduce to some and present to others a view into the life of Melvia J. Reid, commonly known as Mother Reid.
As a true soldier in the army of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Mother Reid closed her eyes to this earthly life during the early morning hours of December 3, 2022. Despite her fight with physical challenges, she never ceased to exercise her liberty to minister Christ whenever an opportunity presented itself.
Mother Reid was born on January 9, 1941, to Luther and Sadie Palmer in Augusta, GA. She was the only child born to this couple. She attended school in Florida and was employed by Durand Glass, Millville, NJ.
The love relationship between Mother Reid, Father God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit could be measured in her lifestyle and conversation. Prior to being officially assigned the title of Church Mother, Mother Reid worked tirelessly under Bishop Hall and then Bishop Hadley as a leader, mentor, and edifier to the body of Christ across a wide age range. In the role of Mother, she continued to discreetly give of her resources and time as she tangibly demonstrated the love of God.
She leaves to cherish her memory Gwedoly Malone of Florida, Cynthia Harden of Vineland, NJ and Rodney Malone of Washington, DC; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter Reid, her children John Williams, Gregory Malone, Junius Malone, grandchildren Tania Malone Jackons, Jonathon Malone Sr., and Angel Holland.
