Michael Lamont Holmes a resident of Egg Harbor Township, NJ passed away suddenly On August 4, 2018 at the age of 50.

He was born October 30, 1967 to Marcella Connors and the late James Anderson in Asbury Park, NJ.

He attended school in Jackson New Jersey, Bristol Pennsylvania and he received his high school diploma from Egg Harbor Township High School, Class of 1986. He also received several certificates of completion from various Bible Colleges.

Michael was a self taught barber and he was skilled in areas such as carpentry, mechanics, asbestos removal, landscaping cooking, construction work and many others. Michael also sang in several talents shows and preformed with a couple of choirs. He took a lot of pride in his work; especially when he prepared the yard for Spring/Summer bar-be-ques and family gatherings. He was jack of all trades.

Michael met Sheri L. Hunter, January 6, 2005, in Pleasantville, New Jersey. He co-founded River Of Jordan Evangelistic Ministries, an out reach ministry under the covering of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in 2006. On April 16, 2011, Michael and Sheri were joined together in marriage by Pastor John H. Martin Jr. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Michael became a member of this church body after his marriage to Sheri.. He enjoyed listening to Gospel music while studying the Word of God and he was always eager to share the Word of God and his testimony with whomever he met.

He was a very kind man and he tried to help anyone in need, any way he could, rain or shine. Michael had the gift of gab and he managed to make people smile no matter what they were enduring. Every one he came in contact with had the same thing to say about him, "He's a good dude" or He's a good guy. He always tried to lift up, inspire and encourage everyone with the Word Of God.


Michael loved The Lord, His Wife and His Family.


He is survived by his wife Sheri L. Hunter- Holmes, mother Marcella Connors (James) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, four sons: Walter Dorsey (Kenisa) of Atlantic City, NJ, Miguel, Robert and Jonathan Holmes, all of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, two daughters: Ianna Holmes of Coral Springs, FL, Brianna Holmes, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, one brother: Robert Gilford (Latoya) of Atlantic City, NJ, Danial Connors, Mark Connors, Thomas Connors, Martin Connors, two sisters: Senethia Gilford of Egg Harbor Township, Brenda Scott of Newark, NJ, four grandchildren: Bre'yonnah, Ah'Leahya, Malaysia, Micah Dorsey, all of Atlantic City, mother in law Justine Adamson of New Jersey, two brother in laws: Charles Mallory III of Richland, NJ and Gregory Adamson of Millville, NJ, two sister In laws: Charlene Hunter Cumberbatch of Piscataway, NJ, Terri Gilford of Pleasantville, NJ, nine aunts: Sharon Cadiche of Virgina, Juanita Flannigan, Florence Maxine Brown, Amanda Charles, Doris Anderson, Jeanette Watty, Sandra Hunter, Cheryl Nichols, Linda Hunter Feeney all of New Jersey, four uncles: James Hubbard, Robert Anderson, Clarende Nichols, Michael Hunter, all of New Jersey, five much loved nieces: Sherita Connors, Marrissah Tucker, Samiayah Leatherberry, Imani Gilford and Za'Niyah Ha'Siera Sutton, much loved nephews: Joshua Cumberbatch, James Tucker, much loved friend: Tina Long and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
