Michelle
Smith
August 27, 1951 – January 30, 2023
Mrs. Michelle Smith was born on August 27, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eustace and Gladys Racine in Harlem, New York.
As a young adult, Michelle relocated with her family to Mickleton, NJ. There she met and married Bruce Eric Smith on July 10, 1982. While living in New Jersey, Michelle worked as a Home Health Aide with the Visiting Nurse Association. She also worked at the AMC Theatre where she met a special group of friends, she considered family.
In her pastime Michelle loved listening to oldies and singing. She also enjoyed walking along the river at RiverWinds with Bruce by her side.
In 1995, Michelle and Bruce relocated their family to Guyton, GA. Michelle opened her arms and home, taking care of babies and pre-school age children at her very own licensed daycare. After several years of caring for others she closed her daycare but continued to work in the community at South Effingham High School as a cook in the cafeteria. In 2012, Michelle retired to enjoy her children and grandchildren. In January of 2023, Michelle and Bruce relocated to West Deptford, NJ to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and siblings. After a life of dedication to her family, friends and caring for others, Michelle was called home on January 30, 2023.
She leaves to cherish precious memories for her loving husband of forty-eight years, Bruce E. Smith of West Deptford, NJ; four devoted children, Monica Corbin of La Plata, MD, Norville (Robin) Corbin of Mt. Royal, NJ, Erica (Aubrey) Charles of Williamstown, NJ and Bruce William Smith of West Deptford, NJ; three sisters, Gloria (Victor) Racine of Lenoir, NC, Julienne (Sandy) Gaines of Westville, NJ and Phyllis (Kevin) Gaines of Mickleton, NJ; six phenomenal grandchildren, Armani Stafford, Cristian Corbin, Brianna Corbin, Nathan Charles, Nicholas Charles, and Nyla Charles and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
